After passing through socialization stage and trial for one month, the electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE) system on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and Jalan MH Thamrin began to be effective yesterday.
This indicates that the community already knows there is CCTV
Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Director, Sr. Comr. Yusuf disclosed, from the monitoring results since morning, motorists are much more orderly. It is because every violation that occurs will be directly recorded on closed circuit television (CCTV).
"For motorists who break the rules, they are given three days to confirm. But, if you want to join the session, the deadline is seven days," he expressed, Thursday (11/1).
Dishub Installs 8 RPPJs Regarding ETLE TrialDuring the trial, there was a downward trend in violations of traffic rules. In the first week, there were approximately hundreds of violations and continued to decline until the end of the trial period.
"This indicates that the community already knows there is CCTV, thus they are more alert and orderly," he stated.
If the ELTE is extended to all roads in Jakarta, the orderly traffic results will be more optimal.
Currently the operation can be taken for vehicles with plate B. To control the non-plate B vehicles, the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate will coordinate with the Traffic National Corps (Korlantas)
"Next year we'll collaborate with Korlantas. They have data on all vehicles in Indonesia," he explained.
Provisionally, he continued, the traffic police officers were instructed to monitor violators and crack down on vehicles from outside Jakarta.
"Our officers did not stay in one place, but also in each spot. If the vehicle breaks the rules, they will be ticketed in other places," he expressed.
In the meantime, Jakarta Transportation Dept. Acting Head, Sigit Wijatmoko expressed, until now his party has installed eight portable signs, three electronic signs, and one electronic sign type portal.
"Those signs inform the message if the driver is in the area of applying for an electronic ticket. For ETLEs using CCTV owned by Polda and Transportation Dept. is integrating the CCTV Traffic Control System (SPLL) with the TMC Polda," he stated.
