Due to violating land use, the office building of PT Karya Puspita Utama (KPU) on Jalan Petojo Utara, Gambir, Central Jakarta, is demolished by joint personnel from Gambir Sub-District Satpol PP and officers as well as the police.
We’ve done negotiation so they would demolish the building themselves. But, they ignored it. We finally demolish the building forcibly today
Head of Gambir Sub-District, Henri Perez Sitorus, said the land belongs to Jakarta Provincial Government but occupied by PT KPU. At first, it was used as location to burn trashes (incinerator). But after the company went bankrupt, the building was then used as rented house for newcomers.
“We’ve done negotiation so they would demolish the building themselves. But, they ignored it. We finally demolish the building forcibly today,” he stated, Monday (8/11).

“Later, there will be children’s playground here. This is good, considering there is not enough green open space in Petojo Utara,” he uttered.
As for the people who rented the building, Suryana stressed that they will not get compensation.
“There is no compensation because this land belongs to Jakarta Provincial Government, not a personal land,” he asserted.
