Jakarta Provincial Government applies green concept to government’s buildings in the capital city. One of the ways to do it is by merging several governmental offices in one tower. By doing this, the amount of green open space could be increased.
There will be also water treatment in this building. Thus, the rainwater falling on this building will be re-used. In addition, this building will also be equipped with 10 absorption wells
“If the building was only three or four-story high, it makes green open space gone. Therefore, short buildings are torn down and replaced with 16-story high buildings,” stated Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo after checking the construction of Jakarta Technical Department building on Jalan Jatibaru, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Thursday (8/14).
Later, Jakarta Technical Department new building will be occupied by three departments, namely Jakarta Building Control Department, Jakarta Public Works Department, and Jakarta Transportation Department. As for the old building, it will be torn down to be then transformed into a green open space.
