City Provides Flats for Locals Near Riverbanks

Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama disclosed that his party will keep cracking down illegal buildings along the riverbanks in the capital. While for the owners, are planned to be relocated to the flats which have been prepared by Jakarta Provincial Government.

"We want to eliminate illegal buildings around the riverbanks and then its owner will be relocated to the flats in Jakarta. If they refuse it, we will relocate them forcibly. Definitely, its location is still in Jakarta," he stated, at City Hall, Monday (8/18).

He stated, many citizens of Depok or Bekasi assume the distance between Jakarta and other cities are not too far. Therefore, normalization will continue to be carried out, including in Mampang River which began to be projected today. The Jakarta government has provided the Komarudin Flat, East Jakarta, as compensation for citizens living near the river.

"Around 300 units of flat have been provided, and we just wait for citizens' decision, whether they are agree or not. Those flats cannot be sold or rented haphazardly. The important is they do not live near the riverbank or inspection roads anymore," he finished.
