Jakarta Deputy Governor for Environment Department, Oswar Muadzin Mungkasa assessed, bicycle is one of the affordable transportation that is very effective in reducing air pollution in Jakarta.
"We reduce air pollution in Jakarta by encouraging people to go cycling. Because cycling is the most efficient mode of transport," he asserted at City Hall, Monday (9/23).
Collecting Aspiration, Anies Talks with Bike CommunityHe informed, Jakarta Government is currently constructing bicycle lane as long as 500 kilometers in different areas in Jakarta, especially areas where odd-even traffic policy implemented.
"In the future, we plan to install bicycle lane divider markings," he added.
Meanwhile, 500 kilometers of bicycle lanes will be constructed gradually. At the first stage, there are 3 phases of construction with total 63 kilometers, first phase is 25 kilometers, second is 23 kilometers, and third is 15 kilometers.
"Our target is to complete the first stage in mid of November 2019. Thus we need to accelerate its construction," he explained.
For the first phase, Jakarta Government will construct bicycle lanes on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro, Jalan Proklamasi, Jalan Pramuka, and Jalan Pemuda.
Second phase will be done on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan Panglima Polim, Jalan Sisingamangara, and Jalan RS Fatmawati Raya. Then, the third phase on Jalan Tomang Raya, Jalan Cideng Timur, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Jalan Matraman Raya, Jalan Jatinegara Barat, and Jalan Jatinegara Timur.
