RTH Unfinished, Under Cakung Flyover Becomes Illegal Parking

The unfinished construction of green open space (RTH) under the Cakung Flyover, East Jakarta, is ironically used by local citizens as a business land. They have illegally transformed the land as wide as ​ 20x10 meters into a parking lot for motorcycle. 

I hope related unit can immediately follow up the parking lot. Locals also hope the park could be built soon

Every day, the parking lot is opened at 6.30 AM-11 PM and motorist must pay pay parking fees around Rp 4,000 for motorcycle and Rp 15,000 for car. No wonder, around tens of citizens deliberately entrust their motorcycles and then leave to get train from Cakung Train Station near the parking lot.

Illegal Parking lot on Jalan Laksa Raya Protested by Locals

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the existence of illegal parking lot under Cakung Flyover has led to traffic congestion due to many motorcyclists conduct contra flow when they want to go to the parking lot.

"I hope related unit can immediately follow up the parking lot. Locals also hope the park could be built soon," stated Ahmad (37), a citizen of Cakung, Saturday (9/6).

Head of Operational Section for East Jakarta Satpol PP, Agus Sidiki urges sub-district and urban village apparatuses should quickly respond this problem. If not, this condition can be utilized by irresponsible people who want to get profit only. 

"Supposedly, Park Sub-Department asks assistance from Transportation Department to crack down such illegal parking lot," he expressed.

Meanwhile, Head of Green Belt Section East Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, Abu Bakar admitted will respond citizens' complaints soon by controlling the parking lot under flyover.

As known, in accordance with instruction of Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama that all flyover areas in Jakarta should be free from any illegal practice, such as street vendors, parking lot, etc.
