Betawi Culinary and Batik Products Take Part in Cultural Festival

The celebration of the 2019 North Jakarta Cultural Festival and MTQ XXVIII, which is held until Friday (26/10) is enlivened with Betawi culinary products such as kerak telor (omelet made of duck eggs and rice), bir pletok (herb and spice-infused beverages), rangi cake, dodol (sticky candy), lepat (banana rice flour), geplak (grinded rice cake), tape uli (sweet and sticky rice) and selendang mayang (dessert made from rice flour and palm sugar).
North Jakarta council's consultative body (Bamus) Betawi Chairman M Ichwan Ridwan said there are also various types of Betawi Batik cloth at the event.

This event presents a variety of traditional Betawi food and beverage products that are now rarely found.
"Besides preserving, we also try to introduce, develop and empower our SMEs," he explained.
Jakarta RT and RW Forum General Secretary Andi Pane added his side participated to present various types of archipelago coffee, collaborating with coached SMEs.
"All stakeholders can work hand in hand to introduce the nation's culture. Moreover, North Jakarta has a high diversity of diverse tribes and religions,"
he stated.
