Jakarta Water Resources Department (SDA) plans for Jakarta Zero Inundation as a program to anticipate inundation, especially in strategic locations, during the rainy season.
From today onward, we start cleaning and dredging mud from the waterways simultaneously in five municipalities
Jakarta SDA Department Head, Juaini Yusuf explained, this program will be carried out to follow up Integrity Pact that has been signed by mayors, SDA Sub-department heads, and Bina Marga Sub-department heads in five municipalities of Jakarta.
"From today onward, we start cleaning and dredging mud from the waterways simultaneously in five municipalities. This morning, we have coordinated it with Central Jakarta SDA Sub-department and SDA Department Middle Flow Unit," he said after leading the assembly of Jakarta Zero Inundation on Jalan MH. Thamrin, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Saturday (11/30).
Channel Normalization on Jalan Kartini 8A Reaches 98 PercentIn Central Jakarta, he continued, channel cleaning and dredging will be focus in strategic locations such as Jalan MH. Thamrin, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, and Jalan Medan Merdeka.
"Actually, we are often cleaning and dredging the waterways, but we must continue to do it to realize zero inundation in Jakarta," he asserted.
According to him, all SDA Department units from provincial, city, until sub-district levels should be prepared in anticipating inundation, especially in roads and other strategic locations.
"Preparation is important, such as to know deeply about areas mapping and locations that are prone to inundation. Thus when it is raining, they can standby as soon as possible on the location," he mentioned.
In order to anticipate flood and inundation, he added, SDA Department will optimize dredging and normalization from micro and macro channels up to reservoirs and retention basins.
"We have prepared 300 units of mobile pump in five municipalities," he explained.
Moreover, SDA Department will strengthen its synergy and coordination with Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) in handling inundation and flood.
"We also hope the citizens to be proactive for not littering, especially to the waterways," he conveyed.
