Participants of South-South Knowledge Exchange Program visited Pluit Reservoir, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. Those are the representatives of 14 cities in seven countries in Asia and Africa who carried out a comparative study about flood control system in Jakarta.
We want to see firsthand the technical management of flood control in Jakarta
World Bank's City Economy Staff, Adri Kusoro explained Pluit Reservoir is chosen as one of their destination sites because this reservoir holds water from various water channels in Jakarta and one of the vital installations for flood control system.
"We want to see firsthand the technical management of flood control in Jakarta. Including its management process that impacts on citizens," he explained, Wednesday (12/18).

used to develop their cities, but also inputs for Jakarta Government.He mentioned that environmental impact of climate change related to flood management has become a strategic issue for developing countries. Thus, their experience is expected to expand the point of views in order to overcome flood issues in Jakarta.
"Output from this event is knowledge sharing. In the next session, each countries will point out things which are agreed to be the action plan," he closed.
