PT. MRT Jakarta ensures subway line will be safe from flood during rainy season.

Kami antisipasi dengan meninggikan pintu masuk setinggi 1,5 meter dari permukaan jalan. Jadi itu sudah cukup aman

PT. MRT Jakarta Construction Director, Silvia Halim explained, his side has researched the flood history in Jakarta before her side started this rail-based rapid train construction.

"We have anticipated it early by elevating the entrance gate as high as 1.5 metes from road surface. So, it is quite safe," she said during monthly meeting with the media at Wisma Nusantara, Thursday (12/19).

MRT Extends Operational Hour for New Year's Eve

According to her, MRT has waterproof panel technology which is installed in every underground station entrance thus water can't get into the station.

"This technology can be activated during rainy season in Jakarta and de-activated it when rainy season has ended. We also have water level sensor in Krukut River and West Flood Canal. Those panels are connected directly to OCC in Lebak Bulus," she stated.

Moreover, her side also provided water storage ponds in the station with size 4x4 meters and depth of 2 meters. Each of the pond has pump with capacity 25 liters per second.

"We also have four dikes as high as 50 mm divider around the transition track pads to ensure water to flow on the  waterways provided. Connection between parapet on the nearest pier from the underground station is also equipped with sealant. With all of these prevention actions, we can ensure MRT lane is safe," she asserted.
