MRT Coverage to Reach Botabek

The coverage of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), which initially for Jakarta only, is now going to be widened to buffer areas which residents have many activities in the capital city. Those areas are Bogor, Balaraja (Tangerang) and Cikarang (Bekasi).

So, from north to south is Lebak Bulus to Bogor until Kampung Bandan, and from east to west is until Cikarang and Balaraja

“So, from north to south is Lebak Bulus to Bogor until Kampung Bandan, and from east to west is until Cikarang and Balaraja,” stated Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama during logistics seminar held at Borobudur Hotel, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (9/23).

In this project, Basuk continued, Jakarta Provincial Government will involve PT KRL Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ), subsidiary of PT KAI, to realize the idea of MRT construction until Bogor and other buffer areas.

Affected by MRT Project, 59 Buildings Demolished

“For me, no PT MRT is okay. Just give PT KCJ to build it (MRT project),” he told.

According to Basuki, the plan to build MRT from Kampung Bandan-Lebak Bulus until Bogor has been informed to National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) as the authorized party on national development planning in Jakarta and surrounding areas.

“I’ve told to Bappenas. Jakarta Provincial Government covers this (MRT project) with central government. So, all of this is truly with train,” he said.

For information, Public Works Ministry is currently running the lanes that connect Lebak Bulus-Bogor with national roads. Those lanes include Lebak Bulus (South Jakarta)-Ciputat-Parung-Kedung Halang (Bogor).
