Water Channel Concrete Covers in Semanan Broken

Due to the water channel concrete covers on Jalan Gaga, RW 06, Semanan Urban Village, Kalideres Sub-District, West Jakarta, are broken, the water flow becomes disrupted and water overflows onto Jalan Semanan Raya whenever rain pours. As a result, the activities of local residents and passing motorists become disturbed.

“The concrete covers have been broken since a year ago. Because of that, the water cannot flow into the connecting channel. When rain pours, the water channel becomes clogged and water overflows onto the street up to at least 30 centimeters high,” told Suardi (42), a local, Wednesday (9/24).

Responding on this matter, Head of Maintenance Section for West Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Amir Pangaribuan, admitted that the water channel concrete covers on Jalan Gaga do not working optimally which eventually leads to causing inundation when rain pours.

“At this time, the broken water channel concrete covers are being demolished to be replaced with new ones,” he stated.

According to Pangaribuan, his party is currently also dredging 34 connecting channels in Jelambar, Taman Ratu, Sumur Bor, and Daan Mogot, as well as waterways of Grogol River and Sekretaris River.
