Avoid COVID-19 Transmission, City Extends Tourist Destination Closing Period

The closure of all tourist destinations under Jakarta Provincial Government will be extended until April 12, 2020.  

The closure is officially extended for another two weeks

For information, it was formerly announced that tourist destinations in Jakarta were closed from March 14-29, 2020. But, in order to prevent spread of COVID-19 in Jakarta, this decision was taken to minimize residents activities in public spaces that could trigger direct physical interaction in crowds.

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) Head, Cucu Ahmad Kurnia stated, tourist destinations closure period was extended by seeing the latest development in the spread of COVID-19 outbreak in Jakarta. Moreover, his side added more tourist destinations that will be closed until April 12.

Ancol Extends Closing Period of Tourism Areas

"The closure is officially extended for another two weeks. Through various considerations, we will also close other 3 tourist destinations that previously were operated. During the closure, we will monitor the area. Further information will be announced again later," he explained as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, Saturday (3/28).

Here are tourist destinations that will be closed until the next two weeks; Monas, Ancol, Kota Tua, Ragunan Zoo, DKI Pavillion in TMII, Taman Ismail Marzuki, PBB Setu Babakan, Rumah Si Pitung, Onrust Island, Jakarta Historical Museum, Museum of Memorial Stone Park, M.H. Thamrin Museum, Fine Art and Ceramics Museum, Textile Museum, Wayang Museum, Maritime Museum, Joang '45 Museum, and additional 3 tourist destinations including Condet Dance and Karawitan Lab, Cipir Island, and Kelor Island.

During the closure period, Jakarta Government has disinfected all public facilities and ensured its cleanliness.

His side always reminds all Jakartans to carry out physical distancing by doing their activities at home and surrounding area. Because reducing activities in the crowd can protect their families and themselves from COVID-19.

Previously, Jakarta Disparekraf also issued Circulation Letter Number 160/SE/2020 regarding Temporary Closing of the Tourism Industry in Preventing Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Transmission.
