Improvements of suspension bridge over  Banjir Kanal Barat (BKB) River, Grogol, West Jakarta which was badly damaged and nearly collapsed, now is almost completed. Furthermore, the bridge that connect Duri Pulo Urban Village, Central Jakarta with Grogol area, West Jakarta was estimated to be used in three days.

Based on beritajakarta.com observation, a number of worker completed the finishing work looks like welding and painting. The Iron buffer was already installed neatly. The construction of this new bridge is made higher than before.

" We estimate that the bridge can be used within this week ," said Irfandias, Head of Road and Bridge Section of Public Works Department, Tuesday (9/30).

He added, this suspension bridge improvement takes as long as five weeks. He estimated, the new bridge has a resistance for up to 20 years.

Ika (9), an elementary (SD) student, stated she is happy about the suspension bridge that can be re-used. The reason, as long as the bridge is broken, she with her friend had to walk on the railroads to go to school.

"If the bridge can be used, me and my friend do not have to pass on the railroads again because it could endanger our life," she stated.

As reported, Setiakawan suspension bridge that connects Grogol Urban Village, Grogol Petamburan Sub-district, West Jakarta with Duri Pulo Urban Village, Gambir Sub-district, Central Jakarta, was badly damaged and almost collapsed since three months ago. Even, the steel rope which used for the bridge main buffer was cut off and make the bridge skew.
