COVID-19, Dishub to Carry Out Homecoming Ban Policy

Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Head Syafrin Liputo revealed the government's decision on its ban on the annual Eid ul Fitr homecoming was the right step in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

His agency would coordinate in preparation for its implementation and await further direction from the Ministry of Transportation for effective results.

"We're also going to coordinate the fate of the drivers who then do not provide services or stop operations," he explained.

But he could not be sure when the homecoming ban was applied in Jakarta, as it was awaiting the legal basis from the central government.

"We will adjust it because this is the decision of the President," he exclaimed.

He added the homecoming ban policy would certainly regulate transportation services or mass transportation in Greater Jakarta.

"It will be coordinated and synchronized for its implementation in the AKAP bus transportation, inter-city railroad transportation with airports and seaports," he uttered.
