FPI's Demonstration Injured Dozens of Policemen

Demonstration conducted by the mass of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) in front of the Jakarta City Council (DPRD) building, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, ended chaotic. As a result, dozens of police officers who are on guard injured after being hit by stone-throwing from demonstrators.

Not only that, some cars owned by council members and visitors parked on the yard of DPRD building damaged.

Currently, the injured police officers are still undergoing treatment at Jakarta City Hall's Polyclinic. "Dozens of police officers are injured and have been brought to Jakarta City Hall's Polyclinic," said one of policemen when being met at City Hall Polyclinic, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Friday (10/3).

Most of them were injured in the head. Initially, FPI masses did oration but suddenly they threw rocks towards police officers in front of DPRD building.

"Suddenly, they throw rocks to police officers after they done oration," he told.

When throwing rocks, police then retaliated them by firing tear gas. After being disbanded forcibly, demonstrators immediately staged another demonstration in front of the City Hall office, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan.

As quoted by beritajakarta.com, one victim rushed to the nearest hospital due to severe injuries. Until now, the victim names are still being recorded by officers in the field.
