Preventing COVID-19 Transmission, PT. LRT Tests Voice Command System in Elevators

After applying foot switch technology in seven stations, PT. LRT Jakarta also plans to install voice command system for provide a comfort and safety environment for the passengers. It is expected to prevent Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) transmission by not pressing the elevator button.   

Our purpose is to use this technology as an innovation in preventing COVID-19 transmission in vulnerable spots

"Our purpose is to use this technology as an innovation in preventing COVID-19 transmission in vulnerable spots, such as door handle, railing, and elevator buttons that are mostly touched by people," said Kemal Hersanto, PT. LRT Jakarta's Corporate Secretary Division Head, Tuesday (6/2).

According to him, this technology is easy to use. Voice is inputted when the user is talking through the microphone using extra board in form of raspberry pi zero which is connected to the microphone and relay as the substitute input device, instead of button.

PT LRT Jakarta Begins Running KSBB Program

"This device has been installed in Main Control Center (MCC)'s elevator for further development and research. We want to test it first," he conveyed.

After testing period, his side will install the device in all LRT stations' elevators.

"We hope this device can make our passengers become safer and comfort," he closed.
