KPKP Agency: Availability of Food Strategic is Safe During Transitional PSBB

Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency ensures the availability and price of strategic food entering the period of the transitional large-scale social limitation (PSBB).

The strategic food in question is rice, beef, chicken, chicken eggs, garlic, onion, chili, sugar and cooking oil.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head Darjamuni said the Jakarta Provincial Government conducts various strategies in an effort to meet the food needs of Jakarta citizens, including the expansion of Regional Government-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) to develop its market thus all food commodities can be controlled, both in availability and price.

"Do not worry, we have involved them (BUMD) in the mastery of commodities and market interventions with related agencies such as Home Ministry, Agriculture Ministry, Bulog and optimal coordination with food businesses," he expressed, Monday (6/22).

His agency continues to increase the role of the community in supporting Jakarta's food security starting from the urban farming and changes in consumption behavior such as the socialization of increased consumption of frozen meat which is more guaranteed hygiene sanitation.

"Besides consumption of dried chilies or chili powder that can be stored and certainly more efficient, diversified food preparations and others that can provide financial benefits at the level of household consumption," he explained.

Aside that he has developed the Food Security Information System (SIKP) that can be accessed via sikp.jakarta.go.id in order to provide information related to food availability and prices for citizens.

It has been able to display information on food prices and has been accessed with Jakarta Food Info (IPJ), BUMD, as well as district and city governments throughout Greater Jakarta.

"In the future, it will be able to provide food stock information from all sources including stock in food producing regions thus the stock food information in this system is more accurate and complete," he told.

Another effort that has also been intensified is the development of the Toko Tani Indonesia Centre (TTIC) or Mitra Tani Market, which sells food at below market prices.

"Currently it has also been serving online sales with Ojol (ride hailing app) drivers. Our hope in the future TTIC is able to provide easy access to food for the community at cheap and easy prices," he hoped.
