Pondok Randu's Irrigation Channel Dredged

In order to prevent flooding, the West Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department is dredging a Pondok Randu's irrigation channel located in Duri Kosambi Urban Village, Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

The dredging will take one kilometer long of channel, starting from Jalan Kresek until Pondok Randu

According to Pamudji, Head of West Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, more than 10 years, the channel has never been dredged and caused mud and trash piles. It leads to narrowing of the channel

"The dredging will take one kilometer long of channel, starting from Jalan Kresek until Pondok Randu," he expressed, Wednesday (10/8).

Petukangan River Dredged

Such channel, he disclosed, is very vital, considering water in the channel flowing from Tangerang and empties into Angke River. The dredging itself is targeted to take two weeks and will be dredged to a depth of one meter.

"We do dredging to accommodate water in large quantities thus flooding can be minimized. After being dredged, local residents are required to maintain and sterilize the channel from trashes," he uttered.

Pustaka, (56), a RW 03 resident, positively welcomed the dredging from related unit. Moreover, water in the channel is easily overflowing into his residential.

"Our residential is often flooded as high as one meter during rainy season. Hopefully, related unit can dredge the channel seriously thus flooding can be avoided in future," he hoped.
