Waste Banks in Jakarta Increases into 637 Units

South Jakartans' interest in waste bank is considered high due to significant increase in the number of waste banks in South Jakarta from 611 into 637 units from March to July 2020.

In average, it increases about 1-3 units of waste bank in each sub-district

"In average, it increases about 1-3 units of waste bank in each sub-district," conveyed M. Amin, Head of South Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-agency, Monday (7/13).

The most significant increase in waste bank is in Cilandak that reached 12 units. During the COVID-19 pandemic, waste banks that have cooperated with Central Waste Bank (BSI) have not been added with total of 379 units.

"It is located around schools, campus, government offices, settlements, health centers (puskesmas), hospitals (RSUD)s, companies, worship places, public open places, and tourist attractions," he mentioned.

637 waste bank units in South Jakarta were placed in 61 locations in Kebayoran Baru, 66 locations in Kebayoran Lama, 71 locations in Pesanggrahan, 64 locations in Cilandak, 60 locations in Pasar Minggu, 92 locations in Jagakarsa, 65 locations in Mampang Prapatan, 51 locations in Pancoran, 57 locations in Tebet, and 50 locations in Setiabudi.

"Activities in waste banks should comply with COVID-19 prevention protocols to ensure the activities run safely" he closed.
