Supporting Social Actions, Ariza Visits Blood Donation Event in Kebon Jeruk

Supporting blood donation program held through collaboration between Jakarta Community Early Awareness Forum (FKDM) and Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Jakarta Vice Governor, Ahmad Riza Patria visited blood donation event at P3 Paud Building and Jakarta Dikmas, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, on Tuesday (8/25).

In this visit, he said that all elements of society need assistance from the citizens to donate their blood. According to him, many people are afraid to donate blood amid of the COVID-19 pandemic thus it causes declining number of blood bag supplies in every areas in Jakarta.

"Thus we must keep supporting all elements of society and organizations such as FKDM and FPK to assist PMI in collecting blood. Because in a day, we need to collect approximately 1,000 blood bags, so we need to help each other," he conveyed as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release on Tuesday (8/25).

He also reminded people to help each other during the pandemic, such as providing social assistance for people who need it. He appreciated West Jakarta Government that has been active in encouraging all elements of society and organizations to do social actions, such as holding blood donation and providing social assistance for the blood donors.

"It is time to do good, to care and help each other, both government, private industry, and society should help each other. But it must be carried out by wearing mask, washing hands, and maintaining safe distance (3M) thus it can run in a conducive manner in the middle of the pandemic," he added.

Meanwhile, West Jakarta Mayor as well as West Jakarta PMI Chairman, Rustam Efendi explained, blood donation event was initiated by all elements of society and it will be held until October 13, 2020 in several locations. The peak blood donation event will be held at West Jakarta Mayor Office. His side ensured this activity will take place safely even though it is still in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic.

"For West Jakarta people who want to participate as blood donors, Insya Allah (God willing), you don't need to worry. We are all understand that in this pandemic situation, we worry about things, but if we comply with health protocols, be sure that everything will be fine. As stated by Jakarta Vice Governor, Ariza, by always implementing 3M, we can carry out humanitarian actions considering that our blood is very important for those in needs. Hopefully, we could collect at least 300 blood bags for today's target," he stated.

For information, 450 people have donated their blood and received staple food package for each person. On the peak of blood donation event in West Jakarta, his side will give away door prizes to motivate people in carrying out humanitarian action, such as donating blood.

This event is also attended by Jakarta Council (DPRD) Legislator, Syarifudin; FKDM Chairman, Munir Arsyad; FPK Chairman, Zamak Sari; Dandim 05/03 Infantry Colonel Dadang Ismail Marzuki; West Jakarta Police Deputy Chief, AKBP Rusdy Pramana Suryanagara; West Jakarta FKDM Chairman, Iswahyudi; West Jakarta Kasuban Kesbangpol, Matsani, Kebon Jeruk Sub-district Head, Saumun; and other community leaders.
