Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan led the morning assemble related Large-scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) Enforcement and Monitoring at Block G Building, Jakarta City Hall, on Monday (9/14). On that occasion, he advised all ranks to work together to ensure PSBB implementation to run well and orderly.
For Satpol PP, I advise you to do your duty and belief that we do it to protect them, not only enforce the Pergub
"We realize that COVID-19 transmission can't be solved from health aspect alone or 3T (Testing, Tracing, Treatment) carried out by government. But it needs community participation to be discipline in applying 3M (wearing mask, maintaining distance, washing hands with soap). Therefore, I want all ranks from Satpol PP and ASN officers who are assigned to monitor PSBB to do their job well," he conveyed as quoted from Jakarta PPID press release, Monday (9/14).
Furthermore, he also emphasized that monitoring and imposing sanctions to the violators were not only done to enforce Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub), but also to protect people's life.
DPRD Supports City in Tightening Health Protocols Monitoring"For Satpol PP, I advise you to do your duty and belief that we do it to protect them, not only enforce the Pergub. You must realize that your job is greater than enforcing Pergub, that is saving people's life. Please respect the residents, convey it with respect. I want residents who are reminded about this regulation to feel that they are being protected thus they will respond it well," he explained.
He also instructed his personnel who served on the field to maintain integrity as representatives of the state to protect its people.
"First, you will encounter people who respond impolitely and harshly. Your patience will be tested but you need to keep it cool. This is on behalf of the country. When someone is harassing us, don't ever harass them back. It shows that we carry the name of country. Because of that, we must act in accordance with all the protocols owned by Satpol PP," he mentioned.
He also expected officers to protect the good name of Jakarta Provincial Government and the honor of the authority that has been given. He hopes this monitoring and enforcement can change people's behavior.
"The second, is when visiting a place that can pay the fine but offer rewards in form of money. Don't waver. Keep your commitment that you are state officials and you don't sell your authority to any amount of cash. Remind everyone that when the money is received, it will degrade ourselves, disgrace before God and others," he asserted.
