Rainy Season, PT. MRT Jakarta Prepares Things to Anticipate Inundation

Entering the rainy season in Jakarta, PT. MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) has prepared various things to anticipate inundation that is potential to occur in underground stations.

We ensure that we anticipate this rainy season better than before by optimizing every aspects

PT. MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) President Director, William Sabandar conveyed, his side has prepared things to anticipate inundation in underground stations since last January.

"We ensure that we anticipate this rainy season better than before by optimizing every aspects," he asserted, Monday (10/5).

Progress of MRT Jakarta Phase 2A Construction Reaches 8.157 Percent

According to him, his side made guardrails at stations' entrance gates, such as in Bundaran HI station and Dukuh Atas Station. It has also been tested during flood on last January.

"At first, we just install it at Bundaran HI and Dukuh Atas Stations. But now we ensure all stations have been equipped with this guardrail," he mentioned.

Meanwhile to prevent inundation around Istora Mandiri Station, his side made a 50-centimeter wall between road and sidewalk because Jalan Jenderal Sudirman's position is higher than the station.

"We build huge crossing channel from Polda Metro Jaya to hold water from flowing to Istora Mandiri Station. We also lift and repair drainage in Setiabudi Astra Station thus it can be functioned optimally," he explained.

Furthermore, his side always maintain and drained the drainage along MRT Jakarta line from Lebak Bulus to Bundaran HI. Thus it can hold more water, especially when heavy rain falls.

"We also made ramp at Dukuh Atas Station, especially on sidewalk that leads to station entrance. All these preparations are expected to prevent inundation, especially in underground stations," he said.
