Alhamdulillah, we are grateful today to witness examples of creative, innovative children
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, handed over the Governor's Trophy and awards to the winners in the Jakbee Hackathon 2020 competition held by Jakarta BAZNAS BAZIS, at Jakarta City Hall, on Thursday (11/12). He expressed his hope for the nation's next generation to continue to think creatively and innovatively to create useful works in society.
"Alhamdulillah, we are grateful today to witness examples of creative, innovative children. We will leave this nation's journey with them. At this point, they are already part of the solution provider. We often underline that the city is managed with an approach where the government is not just an administrator, a service provider but also a collaborator who works closely with residents who act as co-creators to give a solution. That's why Jakarta is called as a city of collaboration. We want to collaborate together. This morning we saw our children with business proposals, proposals for solving problems in our city through a hackathon, through a business proposal competition," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He explained, this second competition is one of the youth exercises to work and anticipate the changing times that are so fast in the pandemic era.
"If we are accustomed to training our children with questions that score high, they are the ones that are most similar to reading, so they will be mechanistic and create creativity but if they are used to being given blank paper, please do anything with this paper, so they are trained to innovate, be creative. They will be more creative in the future so they can think differently from others. This is characteristic of our new generation. Hopefully, they will continue to be creative, innovative, continue with new ideas and think differently from the normal," he explained.
He went on to say that the young generation in Jakarta should take advantage of the existing international networks in this city to actively carry out activities and build global scale connectivity. It was hoped that creation and innovation not only in work but also in career development and education and business proposals and winning works could be translated into international languages in order to reach nationally and internationally.
"Develop yourself in the classroom, in activities and build networks, as it is of tremendous benefit and its role is extraordinary in the future. What you have to think about is how we can continually learn and see from a new, creative and self-developing perspective and the opportunity for that is golden in college," he reminded.
He stressed that pandemics opened opportunities for accelerated change with intensive interactions through the use of digital technology. He hoped, they would be prepared as there would be an extraordinary shift in the next few years. So they had to be a group that reads change and anticipates change, then wins the post-change opportunity.
"Make this a mandate. Jakartans entrust you with tuition fees. Don't look at this as a gift, but as hope that must be met in order to become a human who is beneficial and to become a human whose presence is felt by the environment. So you have to be active and InsyaAllah, develop all your potential," he expressed.
As for the information, the Jakbee Hackathon 2020 is held in two stages. They are business proposals for SMA level (155 teams with 2-3 people) and the Hackathon competition (75 teams from all over Indonesia). Meanwhile, educational scholarships are given to 3,339 students who are currently pursuing undergraduate degrees with a total of more than Rp 20 billion. Jakarta will continue to be committed to distributing zakat, infaq and sadaqah through Jakarta BAZNAS BAZIS.
