Nightclubs Operate until Dawn, Citizens Worry

The citizens are restless with the condition of nightclubs at Kemang, South Jakarta which operate until dawn. The visitors always make noise and prone to cause accident when driving in drunk.

"The operational hours should be arranged clearly. There are also nightclubs operated until dawn. Many of accident caused by drunk driver killed people who went to mosque for Fajr prayer," said Muhammad, member of LMK Bangka, Tuesday (10/28).

According to him, this condition has been reported to South Jakarta Administration. "But the response is nothing," he added.

Nightspots Must Close Early

South Jakarta Mayor, Syamsuddin Noor, admitted that his side had reviewed nightclubs at Kemang which alleged offend the operational hours. "We have reviewed the nightclubs. There must be meeting between citizens, Kemang management, and Jakarta Dept. of Tourism and Culture," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of South Jakarta sub-dept. of Tourism, Ukar Saputra, admitted has reported this case to Jakarta Dept. of Tourism an Culture. "It's the department's authority," he admitted.
