Transjakarta Allows Operators to Choose Best Electric Bus Manufacturer

Principally we welcome the current enthusiasm

PT Transjakarta allow operators to choose the best electric bus manufacturer, which aims to support the langit biru (blue sky) program launched by the Jakarta administration.

The enthusiasm for the presence of electric buses can be seen from the brands that are present today. After BYD, in collaboration with Bakrie Autoparts, has successfully held commercial trials with PT Transjakarta, now other brands namely Skywell, Higer, Zhongtong, Mobil Anak Bangsa (MAB) and INKA E-Inobus are also participating in the competition.

Transjakarta Electric Buses Have Met Operational Standards

PT Transjakarta Managing Head Sardjono Jhony Tjitrokusumo said, operators could choose buses with good quality accompanied by full after-sales support from the Brand Owner Agent (APM).

"Principally we welcome the current enthusiasm from foreign and domestic manufacturers, to participate in organizing electric buses for operators. If all of them pass the study and technical test, we will give the Commercial criteria," he expressed, Thursday (1/7).

As for the information, Transjakarta has successfully held commercial trials on two BeYonD (BYD) electric buses in collaboration with PT Bakrie Autopart. They also plan to test other buses from other manufacturers.

"Our hope in this year is electric buses have started to be used and felt by the people of Jakarta. As for the cooperation mechanism, each manufacturer must first pass a technical test as evidenced by technical documents from the Transportation Agency. Thus we may give an opportunity for commercial trials prior to the purchase stage from operator," he explained.

Last year, Transjakarta also successfully implemented an electric bus trial program using various methods to meet the requirements.

"If we work together to hold trials, there must be an MoU or document that becomes the basis for the cooperation," he stated.
