“There is still shortage of 196,371 points consist of 45,000 insertion points and 153,371 dark points. The insertion points are additional of the already existing street lights. For instance, one road must have 10 street lights, but only 6 points that have been installed. That means it leaves 4 points of street lights,” said Head of Jakarta Industry and Energy Department, M Haris Pindratno, Friday (10/31).
Based on field survey results, Pindratno continued, 151,371 street lights or 40.05 percent have been installed. The installation is compliance with the instruction of Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama who asked for street lights installation to be focused in settlements. As for the street lights installed in protocol and province roads as well as in settlements, they will soon be replaced with LED lamps.
222,342 Street Lights Replaced with LED Lamps“The life time of existing 181,629 street lights is less than one percent, while the rest can light up after the components being replaced,” he disclosed.
According to Pindratno, his department needs Rp 4.85 trillion to install new street lights as well as existing and insertion points as much as 358,746 street lights for LED lamps.
“Street lights replacement with LED lamps is in accordance with Regional Action Plan on Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction (RAD-GRK) plan. We hope it could reduce CO2 emission through the reduction of electrical energy consumption realized by the use of LED lamps. Thus, the power used could be pressed, but still have the same brightness,” he uttered.
In addition, Pindratno told that his department could save maintenance budget if all street lights in the city were switched to LED lamps. This is because the maintenance of LED lamps becomes the responsibility of the supplier.
“Another saving by Jakarta Provincial Government is the budget for routine expenditure for LED lamps consumption that could save about 50 percent,” he stated.
