Collapsed Sheet Pile and Reservoir in Kramat Jati Being Repaired

The repair is done up to 15 meters long, moreover the condition is prone to collapse already

At least 30 joint personnel are seen repairing the collapsed sheet pile and reservoir of the Baru River in RT 05/01 Tengah Urban Village, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (1/19). They collapsed yesterday at around 5 AM.

Kramat Jati Sub-district Head Eka Darmawan said those joint personnel consisted of Water Resources (SDA), Bina Marga and PPSU. The repair was done by attaching dolken and sandbags to prevent further landslides.

"The damage reaches 60 meters long with 1 meter high. The repair is done up to 15 meters long, moreover the condition is prone to collapse already," he said.

Tengah Urban Village Head Tarmji explained the water flow was normal at the time of the incident or no rain. Unfortunately the sheet pile and reservoir were damaged already due to old.

"We hope that technical handling will be carried out quickly. Considering there are residential areas whose position is lower than the river, precisely on the west side of the reservoir. If the water debit is high, the water will overflow and cause flooding," he stated.
