This year, North Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency is targeting to vaccinate 4,500 animals that have potential to transmit rabies.

North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Unang Rustanto mentioned, his side had vaccinated 6,205 animals last year, or exceeded the target by 144 percent from initial target of 4,300 animals.
"We only gives rabies vaccination to dogs, cats, monkey, and civets. Currently, we haven't hold rabies vaccination because currently the strict PSBB is being implemented," he explained, Wednesday (1/27).

For animals, it must be in good health, not pregnant or in breastfeeding period, and old enough for vaccine. Moreover, residents who want to vaccinate their pets must have Jakarta ID card and domiciled in North Jakarta.
"Only animals with age 4 months and above that can take rabies vaccine. We serve rabies vaccination for dogs, cats, monkeys, and civets," he stated.
Rabies vaccination program was carried out to maintain Jakarta as rabies-free region since 2004.
