I ask SDA Sub-agency to handle it as soon as possible
This visit was carried out in response to complaints from local residents who were often inundated due to overflowing water from reservoir. On that occasion, he also checked condition of reservoir which has an area of approximately 8,300 square meters.

From this monitoring, he learned that reservoir was silting. Its initial depth was about seven meters and now it is only 1.5 meters. Moreover, sluice gate in outlet section was damaged and reservoir embankment was too low.
"This reservoir was originally six to seven meters deep. Earlier, I checked with bamboo, its depth was only 1.5 meters. Thus it needs to be dredged up to 5 meters thus it can hold high water discharge," he explained.
Not only dredging, but his side also instructed East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency to raise embankment and repair damaged sluice gate thus it can be used again.
Kaja Reservoir was originally managed by Jakarta SDA Agency, but since January 2021, its management had been handed over to East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency.
"I ask SDA Sub-agency to handle it as soon as possible," he asserted.
Responding to this, East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's Maintenance Section Head, Puryanto said that his side will handle the problems immediately starting Thursday (3/18). His side will also deploy two mobile pumps to the location. Thus when connecting channel's water level in residential area is high, it can drain water to Cipinang River.
"We will start the work tomorrow. We have deployed heavy equipment to dredge mud in Kaja Reservoir. Including to raise the embankment and repair the sluice gate," he added.
Jakarta DPRD Commission A Member, Karyatin Subiantoro appreciated quick response made by East Jakarta Government. He hopes inundation in residential areas can be handled quickly when the rainfall is decreasing.
"Today we monitor the location together with city government ranks, hopefully tomorrow they can start handling it," he mentioned.
