Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, appreciated the clarification and apology from the Health Ministry, Budi Gunadi Sadikin regarding the categorization in the assessment of the provincial situation.
He is smart, wise, open minded, works very fast, and always prioritizes collaboration
The Governor revealed, the Jakarta admini
stration was very open to discuss and cooperate in reviewing risk indicators, which were the new standards from WHO in seeing the rate of pandemic transmission and regional responses in response to the Covid-19 outbreak. As conveyed by the Health Ministry on Friday (5/28), the assessment was not an assessment of regional performance and there was an error in the title. He mentioned, Jakarta was one of the best areas to control the Covid-19 and also apologized to the health workers and workers in Jakarta who had been working hard since the beginning of the pandemic.

"Assessment with a scheme issued by the Health Vice Minister actually risks disrupting the serious work of handling the pandemic. That's why we appreciate the minister's clarification. He understands very well and is accustomed to science-based work and field evidence," he explained, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Friday (5/28).
"We have felt once since he took office in December 2020, that our work together has been very good. He is smart, wise, open minded, works very fast, and always prioritizes collaboration," he added.
He went on to say that the clarification could dispel the doubts of thousands of health workers and workers in Jakarta who had worked very hard so far, so they did not feel that they had done anything wrong, and could spark their enthusiasm in an effort to save residents from the plague.
In terms of treatment, the bed occupancy ratio (BOR) in Jakarta was currently still around 30%, whereas around 20-30% of Jakarta Hospitals treated non-Jakarta residents. Jakarta was also supporting them in preparing the BOR for handling the national pandemic.
"We're happy to work with the ministry to prepare a more objective, contextual assessment of the risk situation and be an impetus for all regions to seriously resolve this pandemic problem. Hopefully, the ministry can review how to calculate risk conditions in regional situations which are not as a performance assessment for Covid," he stated.
