Jokowi to Inaugurate Ahok at State Palace Tomorrow

Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ Tjahaja Purnama will be the first governor to be inaugurated by President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo.

According to the schedule, the inauguration will take place at the State Palace tomorrow, Wednesday (11/19), at 2 PM

According to government regulation in lieu of law No. 1/2014 on Regional Head Election, the governors are inaugurated by the president. And in article 163 of Regional Head Election Regulation, the election takes place at the capital city. If the president unable to attend the inauguration, the person who will substitute him is vice president or home affairs minister.

Ahok Suggests 50 Percent Down Payment in Land Acquisition

Ahok reveals that the inauguration location is decided by Jokowi himself, thus it has no relation with the City Council (DPRD). Even so, DPRD members are invited to the inauguration.

“The inauguration has nothing to do with DPRD. DPRD only acts as guest invited to the inauguration. The President Decree of my inauguration has been issued, as informed by the Council Secretary (Mangara Pardede) and City Secretary (Saefullah),” he stated.
