“There are five urban villages flooded this morning. As many as 17,569 people in the capital city had to take refuge,” informed Head of Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Bambang Musyawardana, Thursday (11/20).
The five urban villages are located four in East Jakarta and one in South Jakarta. Here are the details:
Flood Peak in Jakarta Occurs January 20151. Kampung Melayu (East Jakarta): eight RWs flooded, water level reaches 30-400 centimeters.
2. Cawang (East Jakarta): water level 0-200 centimeters, one RW inundated.
3. Rawajati (East Jakarta): flood inundates four RWs with water level 30-100 centimeters.
4. Bidara Cina (East Jakarta): three RWs flooded.
5. Pejaten Timur (South Jakarta): three RWs flooded with water level 500-100 centimeters.
Those 17,569 flood victims are taking refuge in buildings around their settlements that do not affected by the flood, such as sports hall (GOR) or mosque. Particularly in Kampung Melayu, the flood victims are evacuated to the office of East Jakarta Health Sub-Department.
According to Musyawardana, his party has coordinated with related work units (SKPD) to distribute aid for flood victims.
“Public kitchens and healthcare posts have been set up to help the citizens,” he stated.
