Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama signed the governor regulation on public transport tariff changes in the capital. The amount of new tariff which reached Rp 1,000 will be active on Tuesday (11/25) tomorrow. It is in accordance with the proposal of Jakarta Transportation Department, Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda), and Transportation Council (DTKJ).

The new tariff applies to the mikrolet, KWK, medium-sized, and large-sized buses. While the tariff for students is at Rp 1,000

City Secretary, Saefullah disclosed the governor regulation on public transport tariff hikes was signed by the governor and will be active tomorrow. "The policy will be active after I sign it back," he told, at City Hall, Monday (11/24).

He mentions the new tariff is about Rp 1,000 or become Rp 4,000 for economy public transport. As for the students, its tariff was set at Rp 1,000. "The new tariff applies to the mikrolet, KWK, medium-sized, and large-sized buses. While the tariff for students is at Rp 1,000," he told.

While for non-economy public transport, has not been set. This is because Jakarta Organda has yet to propose its hike. Thus far, the non-economy public transports like as Air-Conditioned Kopaja and Integrated Bus Network (APTB) are still using old tariff. "Mechanically, the Organda should give proposal first and then discussed by team," he explained.

In such regulation, Transjakarta bus tariff was not discussed. Moreover, the bus has received a subsidy from the city administration. Additionally, Transjakarta bus does not use fuel, but gas fuel.

According to Muhammad Akbar, Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, the new tariff was decided in accordance with a meeting held by Organda and DTKJ on Wednesday (11/19). "For tariff calculation, we already had formula from Director General of Land Transportation Decree, starting from calculating driver salary, oil, profit 10 percent, and spare part," he uttered.

As known, President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo had decided to raise fuel price, In details, fuel type premium increased from Rp 6,500 to Rp 8,500 and diesel from Rp 5,500 to Rp 7,500.
