East Jakarta Mayor Inaugurates 24-hour Blood Donor Service

Hopefully, more than 3 million residents can donate their blood to PMI East Jakarta

East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar, inaugurated a 24-hour blood donor service at the East Jakarta Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Headquarter, on Friday (8/13). By so, people could donate blood at any time.

According to him, it was very important considering the very high blood needs for people, moreover most hospitals were operating 24 hours. That was why, community participation was needed to meet the need for blood.

"Hopefully, more than 3 million residents can donate their blood to PMI East Jakarta," he said.

East Jakarta PMI Chairman, HR Krisdianto added, it was expected to be able to restock blood bags to meet the demand of the city's hospitals.

"Indeed the demand for blood is rising. All this time people are confused where to donate blood. But now we already have the 24-hour blood service," he said.

According to him, the demand for blood has been higher during the outbreak. In total, there were 39 hospitals operating 24 hours in East Jakarta.

"Can you imagine if they need blood and we don't have the 24-hour blood service. So it is so difficult for us to serve the residents. With this unit, it really helps them," he concluded.
