Blood Donation and Eye Examination in Thousand Islands Greeted Enthusiastically

Blood donor and free eye examination services for state civil apparatus (ASN), PJLPs, and local residents in Thousand Islands were greeted very enthusiastically.

Thousand Islands Regent Junaedi said it was realized through collaboration between the Thousand Islands Regency administration, the PMI Jakarta, and the Regional Representative Council (DPD).

"Today we have 130 participants. Hopefully this collaboration can be sustainable towards a healthy and productive community," he expressed, at the Regency Office Hall, Pramuka Island, Panggang Island Urban Village, North Thousand Islands Sub-district, Tuesday (3/9).

Aside that, he continued the disinfectant spraying was also carried out in neighborhoods and places of worship by PMI Jakarta.

"This is done to contain the spread of COVID-19 transmission in Thousand Islands. We hope this disease will disappear soon,” he explained.

Jakarta PMI Chairman Rustam Effendi added that this blood donation is  a form of concern for the community. It also aimed to meet the needs of blood stock in Jakarta, which every day requires as many as 1000-1,200 blood bags.

"We continue to collaborate with government and private agencies to meet blood supply needs," he explained.

DPD Senator, Sylviana Murni added the blood donation participants this time exceeded the target set by 100 people.

"I'm proud and appreciate the participants' willingness to donate blood. We also have eye examination and provide free glasses from MNC Peduli for 250 students, 50 teachers, 25 PMI volunteers and 75 seniors," she said.
