On Independence Day, East Jakarta Residents Asked Not to Carry Out Activities that Trigger Crowds

East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar urged residents for not making activities that trigger crowds in celebration of Indonesia's Independence Day, such as competitions or gathering on tujuhbelasan's eve (night before Independence Day).

We will disband any activities that trigger crowds

"Because it is still in PPKM and pandemic situation, we urge residents for not carrying out activities on the field. Competitions to enliven Indonesia's Independence Day are temporarily suspended," he asserted, Monday (8/16).

According to him, activities that could trigger crowds should be prohibited to prevent COVID-19 spread. Residents who wanted to hold activities on Independence Day were suggested to hold it virtually.

His side will assign Satpol PP to monitor the area to ensure no crowds in residential areas during celebration of Indonesia's Independence Day.

"We will disband any activities that trigger crowds," he stated.
