Anies: Jakarta is Animal-friendly City with Vaccination, Sterilization and Adoption

Through Jakarta Agency of KPKP, the Jakarta administration invites Jakartans to take part in World Rabies Day event with theme "Rabies Facts, Not Fear" in Ancol, North Jakarta. In the event, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan that his party was consistent in keeping Jakarta free of rabies.

"Alhamdulillah, Jakarta is a rabies-free area so far. But it must be taken together seriously through vaccination, sterilization and adoption. Until September 27th, more than 360,700 rabies vaccines have been carried out, that's 110% of the target. Then the sterilization of non-owner cats reached more than 4,200, this is 155% of the target we expected," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Tuesday (9/28).

He wanted to make sure all the animals that have owners, including those without owners. It was aimed at showing Jakarta's commitment as a friendly city and serious about caring for animal health.

"This is not about vaccination, but we make sure Jakarta becomes an animal-friendly city, where the residents give attention and love to the animals. I would like to thank the entire community of animal lovers who have collaborated with us to protect, care for and ensure the animals can live well in this city," he added.

He also underlined that the three programs such as vaccination, sterilization and adoption are the main focus so that the mission of an animal-friendly city can be embedded in the capital city.

"There is a drive-thru vaccination service throughout Jakarta area. And we invite residents to give anti-rabies vaccine to their pets. So please come. Jakarta has limited administrative authority, but its services are given to anyone," he concluded.

As for the information, the World Rabies Day held in Ancol was also attended by PT Jaya Ancol Commissioner, Geizs Chalifa; PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol President Director, Teuku Sahir Sahali; Health Agency (Dinkes) Head, Widyastuti; Jakarta Economic Affairs Bureau Head, Sri Haryati; KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati; North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim; and the animal lover community.
