Zebra Operation, 480 Vehicles Ticketed

On the first day of Zebra operation, the East Jakarta Resort Police managed to net 480 motorcycles. They consist of 384 motorcyclist are ticketed and the rest are given a reprimand.

Zebra Operation, A Motorcyclist Without Helmet Fainted

The operation is focused on traffic violation-prone areas. They are Klender area, Jalan Matraman Raya, Kampung Melayu, Jalan Raya Condet, Jalan Dewi Sartika and Kampung Rambutan.

 

Of the six areas, the Kampung Melayu Bus Terminal area is deemed very dense. Whereas officers have repeatedly done raid at the site. Unfortunately, the bus drivers remain pick up and drop off passengers haphazardly and ignore the traffic rules.

 

Head of East Jakarta Metro Resort Police Traffic Unit, Adj. Sr. Cmr. Haris disclosed the Zebra operation is held simultaneously from November 26-December 9. The target is motorists who conducting contra-flow, passing through Transjakarta bus lanes, picking up and dropping off passengers haphazardly.

 

"The rule must be enforced. In the operation, we send 30 personnel in each area. On the first day, we controlled 293 motorcycles, 91 four-wheeled vehicles, and 48 others," he told, Wednesday (11/26).

 

He hoped the operation can give deterrent effect to unruly motorists and suppress traffic accident.
