Residents Demand Krukut River to Be Dredged

Entering rainy season, the citizens who live in Tanah Sereal Urban Village (Tambora Sub-District) and Keagungan Urban Village (Tamansari Sub-District), whose areas passed by Krukut River flows, are began to worry.

Not only the river is narrow and shallow due to mud, it is also full of trashes that scattered from two waste disposal sites (TPS) in both locations. As a result, the river flows clogged.
“We are worried because the mud in the river has not been dredged and the trashes not cleaned up. If the rain was heavy, the river would water overflow onto residents’ settlement. Last year, the flood reached one meter high here,” told Ipong (52), a resident of RT 12/10 Keagungan, Thursday (11/27).

Responding on this matter, Head of West Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, Wahyu Pudjiastuti, stated that her sub-department routinely cleans up the trashes in two waste disposal sites which located on the edge of Krukut River. While regarding the mud and trashes on the river, she promised would coordinate with related unit to clean them up. Thus, flood could be minimized.
