According to Duri Kepa Urban Village Head, Marhali, activity to process organic waste into compost has been carried out by PPSU personnel since last year. People's demand for this compost is very high, so it can have economic value.

Leaves are shredded by machine and then put into three 1.5 meter hollow containers. Then closed tightly for two months while occasionally watering.
The compost is packaged in five kilogram plastic sacks which are sold for Rp 15,000.
"We have once produced one ton of compost. Income from selling compost can be used to increase PPSU personnel's salary," he mentioned.
