During the period, 1,214 trees were lightly pruned, 2,172 were moderately pruned, 613 were heavily pruned, and 107 were cut down

Central Jakarta City Park and Forestry Sub-agency Head, Mila Ananda conveyed, trees pruning was carried out in residential areas, parks, green belts, and other locations to keep the trees well maintained, neatly arranged while anticipating fallen trees or splinters during strong winds. It was divided into four categories, namely light, medium, heavy pruning, and tree cutting.

"During the period, 1,214 trees were lightly pruned, 2,172 were moderately pruned, 613 were heavily pruned, and 107 were cut down," she informed, Saturday (11/27).

Thousands Trees in Central Jakarta have Been Pruned

Especially for trees that were cut down, she continued, because the trees were dry or porous. This step was taken to anticipate trees from falling due to wind and rain.

"First, we check the tree's condition. If it is dry, dead and porous, then we cut it down. For old trees, we coordinate with Jakarta City Park and Forestry Agency through UPPTP to check condition of tree trunk with tree health detection tool. We also ask for expert input from IPB," she explained.

Her side deployed 70 personnel to prune the trees in 8 sub-districts in Central Jakarta.

"We also ask local residents to report us immediately when they see trees that need pruning to prevent trees from falling," she mentioned.
