Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Agency collaborated with stakeholders and urban farmers to plant trees simultaneously in 86 locations in Jakarta's five municipalities and Thousand Islands Regency in commemoration of Indonesian Tree Planting Day (HMPI) and World Soil Day 2021.

cy Head, Suharini Eliawati explained, trees planting was carried out in 26 locations in North Jakarta, 25 locations in South Jakarta, 21 locations in East Jakarta, 7 locations in West Jakarta, 5 locations in Central Jakarta, and 2 locations in Thousand Islands."Total planted area is 27.5 hectares including vacant land, RPTRA, yards or alleys, offices, schools, public housings, and other lands," she mentioned, Friday (12/3).

"We plant various plants, from fruit trees, vegetables, medicinal plants, ornamental plants, food crops, to plantation crops," she stated.
She hopes this activity could encourage people to contribute more to the advancement of local food production and are aware of importance of maintaining and managing soil fertility.
"There are many personal and environmental benefits from planting trees. More trees or plants will also contribute to improving air quality in Jakarta," she said.
