1,695 Satpol PP Personel Readied to Prevent Crowds on New Year's Eve

The Jakarta Satpol PP is set to deploy around 1,695 of its personnel to anticipate crowds on New Year' Eve.

Our main focus is in Crowd Free Night (CFN) area on Jalan Sudirman, Jalan MH Thamrin, Monas, SCBD, East Flood Canal (KBT), Kota Tua and Danau Sunter areas

Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Arifin said, his side would collaborate with police to secure and ensure public order amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

"Our main focus is in Crowd Free Night (CFN) area on Jalan Sudirman, Jalan MH Thamrin, Monas, SCBD, East Flood Canal (KBT), Kota Tua and Danau Sunter areas," he expressed, Friday (12/31).

He explained, those personnel would be spread out in five regions and Thousand Islands with monitoring times starting at 10 PM to 4 AM.

"We will operate mobile tonight, including conducting inspection in public spaces that have the potential for crowds, such as shopping centers, cafes and entertainment venues that are required to close at 10 PM," he explained.

According to him, this action is according to the bylaw and gubernatorial regulation. "In taking action, I have ordered my men to act decisively, but still in a persuasive and humane way," he explained.

He called on business actors and the public not to celebrate or participate in New Year's Eve party. Moreover, there are currently findings of the Omicron variant in Jakarta.

"Please stay at home, gather with their families for our safety together," he stated.
