Residents Flock to Cheap Market in Tugu Selatan

"We sell cooking oil at Rp 14,000 per liter that is cheaper than the market price," she said.

Three days ago, Johar Baru residents had registered themselves in this market operation to obtain a voucher to buy 2 liters or two packs of cooking oil in 1 liter packaging.

"We only hold it in a day. Because we also open opportunities for other sub-districts in each region to get slot of 250 liters," she mentioned.

In order to prevent crowds, her side involved urban village and sub-district apparatuses and provider, PT. Sinar Mas Group, to manage queue.

"Hope it can calm consumers amid a hike in market prices of the staple good," she stated.

Safitri (45), a Kampung Rawa resident, admitted that she was greatly helped by the cheap market. She expected, it could be held continuously when cooking oil price in the market was still high.

"Thank God, it really helps me. I can get 2 liters cooking oil with Rp 28,000. Moreover, in the market, we have to spend about Rp 23,000-Rp 30,000 per liter," she closed.
