100 Plants of Golden Melon Planted on Central Jakarta Mayor Office's Rooftop

Around 100 Golden Melon plants were planted on the rooftop of the Central Jakarta Mayor's Office, on Wednesday (2/23) and Thursday (2/24).

Those plants will bear fruit within two months

Central Jakarta Maritime, Livestock, and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency Head, Penty Yunesi Pudyastuti said it was to take advantage of the 150-square-meter wide urban farming area on the rooftop of the mayor's office.

"If these plants have grown, the rooftop area can be used by employees to interact and heal on the sidelines of busyness," she explained, Thursday (2/24).

She explained the Golden Melon was chosen as this type of plant grows faster and has resistance to weather and pests. Moreover, the care of this plant was quite easy and does not require a lot of water.

"Those plants will bear fruit within two months. We have scheduled a joint harvest on April 21," she concluded.
