Residents Can Monitor Real-time Weather Conditions via BPBD Website

The Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) is developing the bpbd.jakarta.go.id website by displaying the Weather Early Warning feature. Its feature displays map information on real-time weather conditions in the Greater Jakarta area.

We want them to be more receptive to information widely

It is done by integrating Application Programming Interface (API) data from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), which can then be accessed on the https://bpbd.jakarta.go.id/peringatandini page.

Disaster Information and Data Center Head Mohammad Insaf disclosed the public could monitor as well as receive information on areas that are expected to be affected by heavy rains, the potential for strong winds, and their duration.

"We want them to be more receptive to information widely," he stated, Monday (4/11).

He explained that those who monitor weather developments through this feature can anticipate the impact that will be caused if bad or extreme weather occurs. So, they could consider or delay traveling outside their homes due to the potential for puddles or fallen trees.

"Extreme weather for instance, they can anticipate the dangers of disasters caused," he explained.

Aside that, information on weather conditions in Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi also aims to predict the condition of sluice gates in Jakarta when heavy rains occur in Jakarta.

"If it's raining heavily in Bogor, we can anticipate flash floods or rising water levels in the river. That's why it needs to be anticipated through this feature also," he closed.
