163 Trees Cut Down for River Normalization & Road Widening

To optimize Angke River normalization as well as Jalan Tubagus Angke and Jalan Panjang road widening, as many as 163 trees in these three points are cut down.

“A total of 163 trees are cut down to the roots for the project of river normalization and roads widening in three points. The whole project is done by Jakarta Public Works Department,” stated Head of Lane Section for West Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, Kadirun, Saturday (12/13).

Kadirun detailed that those 163 trees consist of 30 trees along Angke River, 13 trees affected by new pump well construction on Jalan Tubagus Angke, and 120 trees affected by drain normalization on Jalan Panjang. After the project is done, the three locations will be planted with trees again to maintain environmental sustainability and for greenery.

“The types of trees to be planted are flamboyant, lawu gunung, and jati mas. In order for the trees to grow fast, we’ll plant trees as high as 2-4 meters, as seen on Jalan Tubagus Angke,” he uttered.
