Kelapa Island Presents Pencak Silat Training Program for Adults and Children

The Pencak Silat (martial arts) Kembang Kelapa Training Camp is now available on Kelapa Island, Kelapa Island Urban Village, North Seribu Islands Sub-district. Besides preserving Indonesian martial arts, its existence is also expected to produce talented and accomplished athletes in the future.

Kelapa Island Urban Village Pencak Silat Camp Chairman Mashabi said the training camp was established on September 2, 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic. The current number of members is 34 people with an age range of 7 to 25.
"We have a mission and vision to make a reliable generation recognize, understand the arts and culture of the nation with good morality," he expressed, Monday (5/16).
Thousand Islands will Hold Martial Arts Festival in NovemberAccording to him, the Pencak Silat training camp program aims to unite island children in expressing island culture and arts, train and guide children to preserve island culture, and create a generation of Kelapa Island who loves religion, culture, country, and education.
"We usually hold training at the camp and RPTRA every Tuesday and Wednesday night between 8 PM to 10 PM for adults and every weekend between 8 AM to 11 AM for children.
Kelapa Island Urban Village Head Irfan Damanhuri hoped that it could preserve and be a positive activity for residents, especially teenagers and children to avoid drug abuse and brawls.
"We'll support it. Aside from being a sports facility, this can also have the potential to become a culture and support for the tourism sector, such as welcoming guests who come to Seribu Islands," he stated.
