Ahok: LKPP Should Think in Business Way, Not Technical!

Jakarta Governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ Tjahaja Purnama today holds meeting with the ranks of Jakarta Public Works Department and Public Works Sub-Departments of five municipalities. The meeting aims to equate perception, thus flood handling could be accelerated.
I don’t want to hear about the delay of inspection road construction, sheet pile installation, river dredging, and road construction. This cannot happen again. All systems must be integrated
“I don’t want to hear about the delay of inspection road construction, sheet pile installation, river dredging, and road construction. This cannot happen again. All systems must be integrated,” asserted Ahok after the meeting at City Hall, Thursday (12/18).
To realize that, Ahok hopes the Government Procurement Regulatory Body (LKPP) would think in business way, not in technical way. This is because current goods and services procurement system regulated by LKPP is assess
ed still complicated.1,782 Policemen to Secure Christmas Celebrations in West Jakarta“That’s funny. If you wanted to place a phone in e-catalogue, according to the old LKPP’s system, we come to China to check the phone’s price. Do you think they (phone traders in China) would be fairly about the price? Just set the highest price instead of auction it. Only because need blackberry costs months of auction (process). Why not just buy it directly,” he said.
In addition, Ahok also wants flood handling to be included in e-catalogue system. Thus, river dredging, heavy equipment procurement, and sheet pile installation could be handled alone by Jakarta Provincial Government.
“Why we had to rent crane from other people? Why not buy it ourselves? All sub-departments have the same thought. We work, we have the equipment, and we maintain the equipment by ourselves. Later, put all of the heavy equipment in smart city location, so the citizens can see it and know whether the equipment is used or not. Thus, eventually everything can be monitored by the citizens,” he stated.
According to Ahok, Jakarta Provincial Government has coordinated with Public Works Minister and Public Housing Minister to be allowed to dredge all main rivers in the capital city. So, these ministries could focus on other regions.
In addition, starting next year the developers are no longer allowed to use their right of 50-day delay from the deadline. All this time, although they are charged with fine, the loss resulted by project delay is enormously felt by the citizens.
“I ask the developers to do their obligations. Just imagine if the developers’ obligations and Jakarta Public Works Department’s budget worth trillions of rupiah were used, development program in Jakarta will be running fast,” uttered Ahok.
